YOGA WITH ME

MY YOGA STORY
Yoga has offered me a true and steadfast companion providing me a sense of grounding, clarity and calm.
My yoga journey began 20 years ago whilst living in Norway and running a busy art gallery and exhibition program. Yoga has since then been a true and steadfast companion providing me a sense of grounding, clarity and calm. The practice has been my go-to in periods of big changes from moving between countries, resettling and during huge pressure as an entrepreneur, menopause and now rekindling as postmenopausal woman.

I have a deep appreciation for Yoga philosophy which teaches interconnectedness, compassion, contentment, acceptance and self-reflection. The philosophy has for sure shaped how I treat myself and others with greater love and compassion.

During those 20 years since the first encounter, I have completed many teacher training programs and created my own yoga offer, including meditation and affirmations, which I am a huge fan of.

YOGA FOR MENTAL FOCUS AND PHYSICAL STRESS
How yoga can benefit you
Yoga is one of the best forms of movement for women as we age.
With regular practice yoga can help improve flexibility and balance, support muscle and bone strength, reduce stress, enhance sleep, boost mood and cognitive function. The focus on inner awareness and attention of our body’s abilities enhances the way we feel about our bodies improving self-esteem and confidence.

Yoga is for everybody regardless of experience, age or ability. Yoga is much more than a physical practice although practising regularly does engage your muscles, build strength and burn calories.

Most importantly, yoga is a practice that cultivates awareness of your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual state and this can improve your outlook on life and how you feel in your body putting you in a better frame of mind to make healthy food and lifestyle choices.

YOGA FOR MENOPAUSE
Yoga gives us the tools to change how we perceive and respond to stress.
The hormonal changes women experience in Menopause can have a psychological and emotional impact on mental health leading to low mood, depression and anxiety. Yoga helps women find calm in the storm of these symptoms. In a yoga practice, we focus on breathing and conscious relaxation which leads to lower heart rate and blood pressure, switching on your parasympathetic nervous system and allowing you to “rest and restore.” From this place the mind and body feel calm, grounded and safe which can reduce anxiety and depression.

Stress is also known to be a key driver of many menopausal symptoms and in particular anxiety so Yoga allows us to change how we perceive and respond to stress. The actual yoga poses cultivate inner awareness and attention of our body’s abilities, enhancing the way we feel about our bodies and improving our mood. Studies have shown that just 20 minutes of yoga can provide mental clarity and help you process information better.
